It's always better on holiday

So this afternoon my dad and I went to see the newest Potter-movie. What an experience! I mean the movie was really really amazing (but I expected as much :P ). What I didn't expect was that there was just one other group of people in the full-sized theatre! Talk about a private viewing. While the room itself was rather modern, the rest of the theatre was beautifully nostalgic with movie-posters from the 40s and 50s. What surprised me the most was that there was an intermission right smack in the middle of all the action...I've never experienced that before. It was a really lovely experience, but unfortunately the volume was way too high and I came out with a nasty little headache.

Straight from there we took a tram and a metro to Taksim, the bustling business center of the metropolis. We walked down a shopping street lined with familiar names (topshop, mango etc. ). We had dinner in a lovely Italian-looking courtyard (the best chips ever, stuffed wine leaves and turkish meatballs. ahhh, I'm in food heaven). We ended up stocking up on t-shirts for 5 Lira (2,5 euro) each. I bought an over sized anchor-T, an Elvis one and one with Jimi Hendrix.

Outfit of the day: maxidress from New Yorker in Stockholm and a thrifted waistcoat

My highly employed sandals from H&M
Such a cute street musician. When I tossed him some coins the biggest smile spread on his face and the music turned into a super upbeat jig :)
A tram in taksim

Our gorgeous (and RIDICULOUSLY cheap) dinner spot.

The shopping street in Taksim. Paradise. Lined with cute cafés and restaurants. ahh.

Tomorrow we're heading out to the Princes Islands off the coast of Istanbul where the creme de la creme spend their summers. Tanning oil? check. Bikini? check. Camera? check!

Lots and lots of love, millions of dresses and happiness to you all!

Blogging overload. beep, beep, beep...CRASH!

Since I've already treated you lot to quite a bit of posts today (obviously I have nothing to do) I'll make this one nice and short. Here's a quick outfit post of what I wore to the grocery store (yes, that was the highlight of my day).

Summer basics: H&M floral waistcoat, black  Zara top, H&M shorts and  H&M crocheted ballerinas. I could almost star in an ad for a certain little store...

My new thrifted bag, which reminds me of the container for my vintage-binoculars. I just had to get it :)

A close up of the lovely rustic print on the waistcoat.

For those of my regular readers who were a little puzzled when my last post was bilingual: since the competition was on a Finnish blog I figured it might be nice to write my entry in Finnish as well. For the time being, however, my blog will remain primarily in English (basically because my skills in Finnish are rather limited. Read: sad).

I'm looking forward to a REALLY exciting week. Hope everything works out as it should

Here's to a magnificent week for all of us!

Things I'm loving right now- and why YOU should too! Episode 2

2. White vests preferably with knitted, crocheted or beaded details- Something you can throw over a dress to dress it down, or bring an earthy feel to a basic top and jeans combo. Dark vest a denim vests are already a staple, but this spring white ones are definitely making a comeback. While pure white works well with most clothes, I prefer to channel my inner hippie flower-child with a more natural shade of white or beige.
When shopping for vests, make sure they fit well and hit you at the right spot. Otherwise you'll end up looking boxy or awkward. A well-chosen vest will accentuate your body: a loose crop will show off your toned tum, while a tighter one is flattering on a smaller chest. Add some ethnic jewellery (beads, colours, scarves) to spice up your look and you're done!

I recently found my dream vest from Zara, but there was a price to pay. Forty euros to be exact, but I've been wearing it with everything lately so I guess it's worth it.

Notice the uh-mazing beaded details! A real treasure :)

Here's the look for less (8,75euros), a crocheted vest from Forever21:
And for those who want to channel the chic fifties instead we have a white denim vest, also from Forever21 (21,75euros):

I'm really loving this whole look, and I might have to rummage around my closet and make my own little version of it...here we go with the stripes again. Turning into a bit of a fixation!

And that's it about
