Premature autumn flue

 School photos today and honestly I couldn't be arsed about how I look. I got up, threw on a pair of shorts and a tee, did my face and ran out the door. And this exceeded my expectations. Reason: my yearly autumn flue has decided to hit early and I honestly don't feel up to anything.
At picture time I got really mad at the photographer because he called me a really offensive word for short people (in Finnish, no direct translation to Eng.) so that sort of spoiled that for me, but I think the picture turned out alright nevertheless. I also took a group shot with 7 of my closest friends and it ended up being quite the hot mess :P Three people sitting on chairs, H planking on them, me sitting on H and three other people in the back fighting to get in the frame. EPIC!
After school I had chicken Caesar bagels with my girl, J and we actually ran into some old friends. Lovely lovely afternoon, despite feeling a little under the weather.
If I'm not any better tomorrow I'll stay home and do my best to get well, because on Friday H and I are heading with his fam to his grandparents' summer place and I would HATE to miss it :/

All in all another happy day in the life of Ninja, although there are a few things I would definitely change.

Life is not life without music

Even though this is mainly a fashion/lifestyle blog, I decided that it's about time to let you guys take a peek into my music-life because it consumes such a huge amount of my time and effort.

Here's my top 3:

1. I love rock n' roll so much it's hard to explain, I got into it through my dad and it's been our thing since I was little. My favourites are 60's rock bands (The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Velvet Underground etc.) Although I do have some contemporary favourites as well.
2.  I discovered reggae after I moved here from Tanzania, and even though it's not really African it has that same atmosphere and really helps with the home sickness. I also love some African artists like Fela Kuti.
3. While I really like 70's Brit-punk and the such, I have a little obsession with celtic-punk music- and I'm seeing FLOGGING MOLLY in about a month with one of my best friends (the shopping side-kick)!!!

As for myself, I trained as a violinist for some 7-8 years with the Suzuki method. Now I don't take lessons anymore...But I still enjoy the odd bit of fiddling at home (sometimes to Flogging Molly :P). 

My taste isn't too acquired; I listen to the basic rock that's sung in English and everyone's heard of. A recent development, however, is my love for music sung in French (not necessarily FROM France, though)! I don't know what it is (and it can't be that fact that I understand much that's going on, because I never did too well in French). It's just a special atmosphere: cheeky, bubbly and hottt! :)

Funny thing is that none of the above are purely "French" the closest is probably the last one. True French music that I listen to include classics like Edith Piaf and newer artists like Les Fatals Picards and Carla Bruni (Yes, the president's wife!)

A graphic tee, nerdy glasses and summer life

My favourite navy-striped knit with my favourite shoes and a scarf. The ultimate feel good outfit!

Got them for a euro at the fleamaret. They're so tattered I have to re-glue them after each use, but I won't give them up 'till I find a VERY similar pair.

Playing the domestic goddess: made my boyfriend parmeggiano filled ravioli with a zucchini pesto sauce (not from scratch, unfortunately...I'm not THAT awesome).

I had to enlarge this one a lot, so the T-shirt would be visible. My friend bought it from a store in Sweden that specializes in graphic tee's. This one feature my favourite band, the beatles, getting all dolled up :P

I added these nerdy glasses to to the outfit once we went out...it just seemed appropriate (even though they're SO 2009. Heck fashion goes in cycles, they'll be back in a year or 20. Then we'll see who's cool)

A (not so) secret love of mine. Bowling shoes. I just find them so quirky and adorable. I need to own a pair (plus these made my tiny feet look SO big!)

It's been a busy few days. To recap: mini golf and cruising with my boyfriend and two of our mutual guy friends, bowling  and dinner double-date with our favourite friend-couple and coffee with one of my best mates (shout out to her!)

I'm facing a bit of a conundrum: I'm going to a fun-park tomorrow and I have no idea how to look put-together without a fashion fail (skirt up by the ears, anyone?). Accessorizing will be a problem since I don't want to wear a scarf and jam a ride and die (that would be no fun at all). If I don't figure something out, we're looking at a VERY boring clothes day. Ouchies.

OH, and btw the prank worked (as I predicted) from a distance. But I guess it became pretty obvious that my hair was pinned up :P I guess need to start practicing my hairdressing skills...
